Visit to Monreale cathedral

Today's picture is of the cloister next to the stunning cathedral at Monreale, a small mountain city near Palermo. We took the bus and were proud that we found our way both there and back. The cathedral itself is pretty plain on the outside, but inside it's walls are filled with beautiful mosaics depicting all of the major stories of the bible. My favorite was a series of four pictures depicting Noahs ark and the flood. Unfortunately I couldn't get a picture of it because the sun was in e wrong place.

The cloister had these lovely columns each decorated with tiles in different patterns. All in all, a very nice day.
