Exploring Lisbon -3

Our Lisbon hotel lies in the valley between two hills, the center of the city. Today we began the day by exploring the hill to the west, comprised of two neighborhoods, called Barrio Alto (high barrio) and Chiado. We began the trip by taking a specially built streetcar designed to take you up and down a steep hill--much nicer than trying to climb the hill. At the top you are rewarded with a lovely view from a park. The three pictures show the streetcar at the top of the hill, then a view from the park looking to the north over a pretty plaza, and then to the south with the bay in the background.
